When you are involved in a car accident, you are entitled to accident benefits from your own insurance company. It is important that you apply for these benefits.
The accident benefits you could be eligible for are:
- Income replacement benefits
- Non-earner benefits
- Lost education benefits
- Caregiver benefits
- Attendant care benefits
- Medical rehabilitation benefits
You may have purchased optional benefits through your insurance company. Shortly after your car accident, your insurance company will send you an Accident Benefits Application package through the mail. There are five forms in the package with multiple pages. There are deadlines for submitting these forms as claims for certain accident benefits must be made within 7 days.
These forms can be overwhelming. When someone has been badly injured, the last thing they feel they can do is fill out complicated forms. Filling out these forms incorrectly can affect your eligibility for these benefits.
